February 24, 2008: Crocetta d ' Orero
We left the station Genoa Bolzaneto and we covered a stretch of flat road about 7 km, which Manesseno before entering the river valley towards Secca Serra Riccò. From Pedemonte begins a gentle uphill stretch of 8 km to the pass of the spreader Orero. The climb is steady but contrary to the information received, the traffic has been felt, perhaps for the good day or maybe because the place is suitable for long trips. After we got off at the pass box for a quick look at the train station of Genova - Casella, before taking the road home. We climbed back in Crocetta of Orero and we deviated to the left to Sant'Olcese. Here is a truly impressive stretch! The traffic-free street with asphalt and in good condition, a wide view on views are always different. We ate down the street with eyes and legs! After we have thrown in the descent through the villages of Sant'Olcese, with some really tight curves rather lively, safe fun! And after all this ... alas, we ended up in Manesseno, and without being able to use the shortcut of going (one-way towards the valley) we had to cross the roads, the railway station to return to Bolzaneto. It 's a pity that, in the name of industrialization, some parts of the city have been sacrificed so heavily in their scenic beauty just because they are far from the center. Countries such as Bolzaneto Manesseno, Serra Riccò, while surrounded by mountains, very beautiful, are experiencing the deterioration of neighborhoods ignored by the government which is expressed in asphalt filled with potholes and patched as best, traffic congestion, no care of the urban landscape and with evident visual degradation of the riverbed that is the buildings that overlook the valley.
February 9, 2008: the fads!
They left the station in Genoa Voltri with the intention of making a winter Sgambati Aurelia, as is common practice. My goal was Borghetto Santo Spirito . I will not describe its strengths and weaknesses of this well-trodden path for winter training for cyclists. The large number of enthusiasts who meet, exceed or are exceeded by which it is difficult to look elsewhere. After the delightful stretch Voltri-Arenzano, Plans and stroke Invrea Varazze-cells (with the release overview from Varazze and thrilling ride on cells) is found Savona, which deserves attention for crossing traffic, but raises emotion for the move to a big step from the ferry moored and next to some emergencies the city's historic (the towers and the fortress). A Vado Ligure intense sunlight and strong winds have made clear view of the gulf and unexpected beauty. Passed Cape Vado to tract meets the sea more exciting Bergeggi!
Bergeggi, Spotorno, Noli : the ride was now relaxed and satisfied the eye from the landscape, so much so that I did not notice until the last signs that warned of the interruption dell'Aurelia! What to do? A n addition there are no roads to cross Cape Noli?
I asked a very kind gentleman who advised me excited to do the detour behind the head, the way of mania. A tough climb? I was out for a Sgambati training and nothing more ... I asked him what was a long way but did not know. I checked: 3.5 km climb to the castle of initial Noli and beyond (photo) , spaccagambe, especially if out of practice like mine, but then within 6 km of breathtaking plateau, between silence and without crossing the green car and almost 3 km down to the sea to Finale Ligure! Indescribable, Highly recommended! The section is also affected partly by the Milan-Sanremo this year!
Despite the detour off the path I have finished the program in Borghetto after 78 km.
